Bright and early on Tuesday morning, August 1st, volunteers and staff from STEAMpark, INC., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation providing educational, emotional and wellness support to children in economically disadvantaged communities, and Two Rivers Title Company, LLC, began a two day “Bucket Brigade” to raise funds for STEAMpark’s inaugural after-school program at Joseph C. Caruso School in Keansburg, NJ, slated to begin operating in September 2017. Greeting commuters during morning and evening rush hours, Two Rivers Title Company staff and community members collected donations in colorful buckets marked by the STEAMpark logo.
Planning has begun for STEAMpark Headquarters, a facility located one block away from the school. The structure will require extensive renovations. The organization plans to open new STEAMparks every four years in high-risk areas.
STEAMparks are ‘educational playgrounds’ featuring MakerSpaces consisting of computer bars and science tables; learning labs with story stages and innovative, comfy furniture for work and play; art studios including easels, art books and room to get messy; and kitchenettes where simple, healthy food will be prepared as kids watch and learn.
In addition to the Bucket Brigade, Two Rivers Title has launched a GoFundMe campaign to benefit STEAMpark.
